'A New Journey'
I believe that this project called 'A New Journey' was interesting in the fact that it was a new journey for refuge Vanessa Malkia, but in fact also "A New Journey' for me as well. Because I have never exposed myself to multimodal writing, this was a totally new experience for me and I feel that I learned a lot throughout the way. Creating the text the way that we did taught me that writing does not simply have to be alphabetic form, but can be portrayed with pictures, audio, and video. After reading and partaking in viewing the many forms of multimodal writing this semester such as 'The Olive Project' and 'What's in a Name', I learned so many new objectives in forms of actually making a multimodal form. I thought The Olive Project was so unique in the way that the grandmother's story basically told itself. With the program of clicking a picture and never knowing where it's going to take you - I felt as though I was a part of Grandma's life - never knowing where I was going to end up. This was a really cool experience which made me think of many ways in which to tell my portion of Vanessa's story. With the many different modes that we looked at - A New Journey was being formed in my mind - of all the ways that I could transform my writing into more than just writing, but storytelling through sounds, visuals and words. I feel that this journey was one to last me a lifetime, literally, because I know understand the concepts that I never knew before, and the way that I can turn what I want to say, into a piece of magic, and telling a story that any audience can enjoy and be able to understand.
